I'm participating at the Art Beijing 2010 Contemporary Art Fair in the Artists Cinema, with my film "Tranquility Inverted" .

“Artists Cinema” is becoming a more and more popular concept nowadays with the prospering video art. As the first photo-video art fair in Asia, “Artists Cinema” invites 10 Asian contemporary video artists to participate the exhibition to follow their lens to feel the passion of video art in Asia.

I've decided to quit as member of The Hungry Hearts performance band. It's not the happiest decision - I've really, really enjoyed my stay in the group, but there is a time for everything. I have a desire to move on with my own work! Well - it's not just a desire, it's a nessecity... In connection with this, I am moving to Berlin. THH was recently in Japan, and here is samples from the last shoot in Japan:

The Sun - a presentation (Beddingwood series)

The Sun

The images in this series, titled Beddingwood, creates a realism that at all times is anchored through documentation, but at the same time creates a fictive zone that makes possible retrospective as well as sideways views onto the real world (Time maps).

The starting point was two huge industry halls at an abandoned shipyard, situated in Fredrikstad (FMV). Today these halls have been thorn down. In that perspective “Urban palimpsest” becomes just a quiet contemplation over something that is gone forever.

'The Sun' is the main image of this series. My intention was that every change of the view to another point, would also be a change in time and orientation - the perspective is torn 'inside out'. In this setting lines plays an important role. The title is 'approriated' from Edvard Munch's "The Sun".

As a child, I once fell down a tree. I just fell a few branches, ended up upside down, caught on a branch by one of my rubber boots. My mother claims I never made a sound - just hanged there quietly. I do not remember this myself, but I like to believe that I enjoyed the view. Up in the trees everything looks a little "Pollockesque".

I remove the "jazz" of Pollock's paintings, and create sugestive mirrors wich is largely based on light-dark contrasts rather than chromatic structure. The result is a setting up of a rigorous play of Pollock/anti-Pollock polarities in each work

The round shape is a comment on my use of a lens based equipment - Kodak's very first camera availiable to the public; the “No. 1 Kodak”, provided round images.

On my 6th birthday, I was given Fellini, an all white baby budgie (periquito, undulat.. teeny weeny bird) who ate from my hand. One day, I had the idea to teach my pippin how to fly, so I threw him up in the air. This act resulted in Fellini becoming crippled and subsequently dying. I still have not forgiven myself. I buried him in our garden.
